Intended use

ImageSL measures the area of chromogenic staining in images of stained sections. It is intended for research, method development, quality control and teaching, and is designed to be used by people who understand the staining being measured and can judge whether a result is plausible.

It reports what it measured under the settings it was given. It does not interpret a result, and a number it produces is not a finding until a qualified person has decided it is one. Any result that will inform a conclusion should be reviewed by an appropriately qualified individual, and any result bearing on patient care must be confirmed by established, validated methods.

This build measures DAB only. Applying it to a different chromogen produces a number that is not meaningful.

Not medical advice

Nothing produced by ImageSL, and nothing on this site, is medical advice or a diagnosis. You must not rely on it for the diagnosis, prognosis, monitoring, prevention or treatment of any disease or condition.

Your responsibilities

• Validate ImageSL against your own material and controls before relying on it, exactly as you would any other measurement method.
• Make sure you are permitted to process the images you use, including any ethics approval, consent, institutional policy or data-protection obligation that applies.
• Use the desktop app for confidential or patient-identifiable material, so that images never leave your machine. See the privacy policy.
• Do not present ImageSL output as having a regulatory clearance or validation it does not have.
• Do not use the service in a way designed to disrupt it or to gain access to parts of it that are not yours.

Availability

ImageSL is distributed as an application and is offered free and as-is. Once installed it keeps working regardless of us: it does not call home to run, does not require a licence check, and does not stop working if this site goes away. What we do not guarantee is the continued availability of this site, of new versions, or of the download itself — keep a copy of the installer you rely on.

ImageSL is not a storage or archival service. It writes results where you tell it to and keeps nothing of its own beyond a local cache you can clear from Settings.

Licence and intellectual property

ImageSL, including its software, name and logo, remains our property. You are granted a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable licence to install and use the application for the purposes described above. You may not sell it, redistribute it, or attempt to decompile or reverse-engineer it except where the law expressly permits that regardless of this restriction.

Your images, and the measurements produced from them, remain entirely yours — we claim no rights over them whatsoever.

No warranty

ImageSL is provided "as is" and without warranty of any kind, whether express, implied or statutory, including any implied warranty of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, accuracy, or non-infringement. We do not warrant that it will be accurate for your material, uninterrupted, or free of error.

Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, we are not liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential or exemplary loss, nor for lost data, lost profits, wasted work, or any decision taken in reliance on a measurement produced by ImageSL.

Nothing here limits liability that cannot lawfully be limited, including liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, or for fraud.

Changes

These terms may be updated; the date shown at the top of this page will change. Continuing to use ImageSL after a change means you accept the revised terms.
